Private Work and Non-NHS Services
Our priority is always direct patient care.We will complete private (non-NHS) work such as insurance forms and medical reports as soon as possible, but due to high demand, there may be delays.
Please do not call the surgery to chase private work. Our team is working at full capacity, and we are unable to speed up requests over the phone. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Non-NHS Services
Some services are not covered by the NHS and therefore carry a fee. These include (but are not limited to):
-
Medicals for pre-employment, sports, and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
-
Insurance claim forms
-
Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
-
Private sick notes
-
Vaccination certificates
Please note: We do not provide passport signing.
Our fees are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) guidelines. Reception staff can advise on costs and appointment availability.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why am I being charged?
Forms and letters require time and detailed review of your medical records. The NHS does not fund this work, so we must charge for the GP’s time and administrative costs.
Isn’t it just a quick signature?
Almost never. Even a short letter (e.g. "fit to travel") requires your GP to review your records thoroughly to ensure the information is accurate and safe to confirm. This carries professional responsibility.
Why does it take time?
-
Reviewing notes is essential and time-consuming.
-
Not all doctors are available every day.
-
We have over 12,000 patients, so private work must be fitted around routine NHS care.
We aim to complete private work as quickly as possible, but delays are sometimes unavoidable.
Why does it seem expensive?
The fee reflects the GP’s time, expertise, and responsibility, as well as administrative costs.
How do I pay?
-
Payment is required before work is completed.
-
We accept debit/credit card and cash.
